Archcliffe Fort

The Archcliffe Fort, named after the nearby Napoleonic fortress, stood on the seaward side of Limekiln Street, on the corner of Bulwark Street, in the Pier district.  It was demolished, along with the adjoining buildings, to make way for the new A20 dual-carriageway.

The pictures on this page were taken in 1983.
