The picture above, from a postcard of the early 1900s, shows Barton Road
looking from the junction of Cherry Tree Lane towards the Castle. On
the right of the picture is the church of St Barnabas. Below is the view
from Willow Walk - this is what the area looked like before Barton Road
and the surrounding areas were built. The river Dour is flowing
through the picture on the right. |
